Features of smart classroom
Smart classroom construction
The construction of smart classroom can use the optical wireless switch to build a WiFi wireless area network to cover the smart classroom. In addition to the wired network switch and network router in the classroom, the key part of the Internet of Things that integrates the wired network and wireless area network - the network layer can be established. Various sensing devices can wirelessly access the Internet of Things engineering information platform through the standard module WiFi device server (serial port communication RS232 to WiFi wireless network), It constitutes a unified Internet of Things engineering experimental platform that comprehensively covers the three levels of the Internet of Things. At the same time, other handheld devices (laptops, mobile phones, etc.) with built-in WiFi modules can also access the experimental platform wirelessly and become part of the Internet of Things experimental equipment; Other perception modules developed by teachers and students in teaching and scientific research practice can also be easily accessed to the experimental platform to complete testing and verification by connecting to the standard WiFi device server.
Smart classroom system
Based on the Internet of Things technology, the smart classroom can be built into an Internet of Things application scenario, which can not only be used for students to carry out innovative experimental research, but also facilitate teachers to carry out scientific research. The personnel attendance system in the smart classroom can be used to judge whether there are people in the classroom. If there is no one in the classroom, all systems in the classroom will be closed; Otherwise, it will be in working condition.
The smart classroom mainly includes the following nine systems:
1. Teaching system
The teaching system consists of a touch projector with built-in electronic whiteboard function, power amplifier, speaker, wireless microphone, microphone, question answering device and supporting control software. The touch projector with built-in electronic whiteboard function is used to replace the traditional blackboard teaching to achieve dust-free teaching and protect the health of teachers and students. The computer can be operated on the projection screen, and the question answering device can be configured on each desk to achieve interactive classroom teaching between teachers and students.
- Display system
The display system is spliced from LCD/LED panels and installed on the top of the blackboard of the classroom. It is used to display the name of the course being taught, the professional class, the teacher, the attendance rate, and the environmental data (indoor temperature and humidity, light intensity, carbon dioxide concentration, etc.) collected by various sensors in the classroom.
3. Personnel attendance system
The personnel attendance system consists of RFID attendance machine, attendance card and supporting control software. An RFID attendance machine is installed at the front and back doors of the classroom. RFID tags (campus all-in-one card) are used to make attendance statistics for students, identify the people who enter the classroom, make attendance statistics for legitimate users, and give alarms to illegal users. At the same time, it can monitor, count, archive and print attendance remotely through WiFi wireless coverage.
4. Asset management system
The asset management system consists of UHF RFID card reader, paper labels, anti metal labels and supporting control software. A UHF card reader is installed at the front and rear doors of the classroom to monitor and manage the access of experimental instruments, equipment and other assets in the classroom (with RFID tags, on which the details of the equipment are stored), and give an alarm to unauthorized users who bring assets out of the classroom, so as to facilitate the unified management of classroom equipment by equipment managers.
5. Light control system
The light control system is composed of light controller, light sensor, human body sensor, curtain control system and supporting control software. Firstly, the human body sensor is used to judge whether there is a person at the corresponding position in the classroom. If there is no person at this position, the light control system and curtain control system are closed; On the contrary, it is in working condition.
6. Air conditioning control system
The air conditioning control system consists of a central air conditioning power controller, a temperature and humidity sensor and supporting control software. Monitor the indoor temperature through the temperature and humidity sensor, and automatically turn on the air conditioner when the indoor temperature and humidity are higher than the maximum threshold value according to the software preset value by analyzing the data. When the indoor temperature and humidity are lower than the lowest threshold value, the air conditioner will be automatically turned off to realize the automatic control of indoor temperature and humidity.
7. Door and window monitoring system
The window and door monitoring system consists of window magnetic module and supporting software. The window magnetic module is used to detect the opening and closing status of doors and windows, and upload the status information to the server in a timely manner. At the same time, sensitive time periods shall be set to automatically monitor and alarm the windows.
8. Ventilation system
The ventilation system consists of an exhaust fan, a CO2 sensor and a supporting monitoring software. The indoor CO2 concentration is monitored through the CO2 sensor. Based on the data analysis and the software preset value, when the indoor CO2 concentration is higher than the software threshold value, the exhaust fan is automatically started for ventilation, and the indoor CO2 concentration is reduced by supplementing the outdoor air.
9. Video monitoring system
The video monitoring system is composed of WiFi wireless camera and supporting monitoring software. Video monitoring can provide query basis for security system, asset warehousing and personnel access. A WiFi wireless camera is installed at the front and back doors of the classroom to monitor the access of personnel and the entry and exit of assets, and a WiFi wireless camera is installed in the classroom to monitor the real-time situation in the classroom. The collected image is transmitted to the terminal management computer via the remote RF unit to provide real-time monitoring data.
Functions of smart classroom
The functions of the smart classroom mainly include the automation of classroom notes, classroom recording, integration of electrical equipment control, automation, intelligent distance teaching, etc.
(1) Automation of classroom notes
In the traditional classroom, such a situation often occurs: students are busy copying the teacher's blackboard writing content, but have no time to carefully think about the content itself, which is obviously detrimental to the efficiency of classroom learning. The DEBBIE project of DePauw University has developed a system for this problem ". The system installs a networked tablet computer on each desk and platform in the classroom. The teacher writes on the tablet computer on the platform through a pen. With the support of software, his handwriting will be distributed to each student's tablet computer, where the information can be recorded together with the words written by the students themselves, thus eliminating the repeated work of each student copying the teacher's tablet.
Denoue and Chiu of FXPAL consider another scenario. They consider the widespread use of wireless networking handheld devices in the future, and students will use their own portable handheld devices to take notes. However, due to the limited input capacity of handheld devices, it will take more time for students to input a word or phrase. They have developed a software for this purpose, which transmits the words or phrases that have been input by one of the students to other students' devices through the network, and these words or phrases appear in the candidate word list of other students' input interfaces, so that other students can directly input the words or phrases in the form of whole words or whole phrases without entering word by word. By sharing the work of each student in the classroom, the efficiency of students taking notes on handheld devices is greatly improved.
(2) Record the classroom teaching process
Classroom teaching record is a broader concept than note recording. Teachers' blackboard writing, presentation handouts, live video and audio and some other online activities related to teaching can be recorded and played back. Students can use it to review the contents of the class or make up for missed courses. Related research projects include Classroom 2000 of Georgia Tech, Smart classroom of McGill University in Canada, and the Picture Browser of Cornell University. Although their means of realization may be different, they all belong to this kind of research projects.
(3) Promoting collaborative learning
The environment of an smart classroom is a wireless ubiquitous network access environment. Students can use wireless terminals for interconnection, group discussion and cooperative learning according to the needs of learning. The learning terminal can connect with the interactive display terminal, or interact with remote learners or experts, so as to facilitate the collaborative learning of learning individuals in the classroom or with remote learning individuals outside the classroom. For example, the Smart classroom of Arizona State University uses PDA and Context Sensitive Middleware based on ubiquitous computing and network technology to achieve communication and cooperative learning between groups. ".
(4) Integration and automation of electrical equipment control in the classroom
Another part of the function of the smart classroom of McGill University in Canada is to automatically prepare the room environment and connect and configure the required equipment when teachers need to demonstrate a handout. For example, put down the electric screen and curtain, adjust the light, turn on the projector and switch to the appropriate video source, etc. Northwestern University has a project with the same name. They consider automatically selecting camera angles when recording classroom videos in the classroom. Through computer vision, the camera lens installed on the electric pan tilt can always track the teacher's position changes, or the teacher can guide the camera to focus on a certain area with gestures.
(5) Intelligent distance learning
The Institute of Human Computer Interaction and Media Integration of the Computer Department of Tsinghua University is carrying out a smart classroom research project, which is to introduce the concept of interaction space into the smart classroom, and enhance an ordinary classroom space into an interactive interface between teachers and the distance education system. In this space, teachers can get rid of the shackles of keyboard, mouse, and display, and use voice. Traditional teaching experiences such as gestures and even body language are used to interact with remote students. The boundary between on-site classroom education and distance education has been broken, and teachers can teach both on-site and remote students. The ePresence project of the Knowledge Media Design Institute at the University of Toronto, the goal is also to enable remote students to participate in a live classroom teaching in real time. However, in this system, remote students can only speak in the classroom through text chat, while in the Tsinghua University system, there are many ways of on-site interaction.
