LCD Vs CRT

Most of the screens we use now, such as office computers and home TVs, are LCD screens. As early as more than ten years ago, CRT was still the mainstream. What are the characteristics and differences between them, and why LCD screens will gradually replace CRT screens?

 

Size

CRT monitors are generally larger and bulkier, taking up more space on a desk. Liquid crystal displays are usually flat in shape, with a thickness of only a few centimeters. It can save limited desktop space and can be arranged in small places.

 

Pixel density

Under the same screen area, the pixel density of the LCD is higher than that of the CRT, and the displayed picture is also clearer.

 

Weight

The CRT monitor looks bulky, its weight is proportional to its volume, the bigger the volume, the heavier it is. Generally, it can reach 20kg or more, and the LCD screen is much lighter, common PC LCD flat panel generally weigh 4 to 5kg.

 

Price

Due to the popularity of LCD screens, most CRTs are relatively inexpensive. As a newer technology, LCD screens are relatively expensive.

 

Picture quality

As an outdated technology, the picture quality of CRT screen is not as good as that of LCD screen, depending on the quality of LCD screen, the picture quality can be very good, like looking out the window through the window.

 

Power consumption

The CRT consumes more power than the LCD flat panel screen of the same size, and the LCD screen is more energy efficient.

 


Visible area

The frame of the CRT screen is larger, and the screen ratio is smaller than that of the LCD screen. The bezels of LCD monitors are getting smaller and smaller, and the screen ratio is getting higher and higher, almost the entire screen.

 

Response time

CRT monitors are faster than LCD screens in response time, and LCD screens have slower response times.

 

Screen flickering

CRT monitors sometimes see screen flickering due to the low screen refresh rate. The LCD screen has a higher screen refresh rate and generally has little or no screen flickering.

 

Because LCD screen has many advantages compared with CRT screen, it is loved by users and gradually occupies the market and becomes the mainstream. The CRT screen is slowly being phased out.
